Previs logistics for music video
For my music video, I am doing the song, “You’re supposed to be my friend” by the 1990’s.
It is an indie rock song, released on October 30th, 2006.
The song lasts 3:39 which is obviously over the brief's demands and to counter this I will cut between these times, 2:13-2:56 so that’s 43 seconds, meaning the song would last just under 3 minutes. All that will be cut is just a long guitar riff, obviously I will have to manage it so it sounds good and there is a smooth transition, but that should be fairly simple.
I will also cut the first 8 seconds, which will just speed up the tempo of the song, luckily the song could easily start at 8 seconds so there won’t be any odd sounding music at the start.
To get my cast I will send this email out,
I am producing a music video for my media studies A-level coursework, and I am looking to cast three actors, 1 male and 2 female.
The shooting of the music video will take a couple of days and will take place outside of school hours, weekends, at least one evening/nighttime shoot and possibly at some point in the October holidays depending on the cast's general availability over the coming weeks. Commitment wise would be as follows:
Supporting Male (medium commitment)
Lead Female (medium commitment)
Supporting Female (minor commitment - one scene)

Outfits
The outfits my characters will wear are very important, as in rock music videos, the costumes are usually very unique and stand out from the crowd.
The main character will wear a dark leather jacket on his top half, and for his bottom half he will wear black jeans. He will wear reflective sunglasses when it is day, and no glasses when the scene takes place later in the day. His hair will be a messy textured fringe similar to these examples.

This gives off a slightly careless look to their hair, it also covers their face which shows insecurity and also that they want to be mysterious which my character wants to feel like.
For example,
Made by Ai
But not as attractive
The secondary male character needs to wear something to make him stand out from the main boy, for example a bright football shirt, and some black shorts, this will oppose the characters against each other, as one is not showing skin and wearing lots of dark colours, but the secondary boy is wearing bright colours, showing skin, and also wearing clothes which comes with sporty connotations.
For example
A child taking a selfie in a mirror
Description automatically generated This really poses the two boys against each other which is the whole point of the video.
The girl will wear a typical ‘girly’ outfit, as the role of the girl in this video is to be shown how men objectify women, and if she is dressed in all pink for example it will make the viewers think of typical female stereotypes. For example
Which was created by Ai.
